Nix Moretta was born in Lancashire in 1971 in a back street terrace, on the kitchen table in secret. Her childhood was traumatic. As a result, this led to an escape into nature and the arts. One Christmas, at the age of seven, she found herself in possession of two typewriters. The blue and red inks indented the pale paper like a
thumbprint of all existence.
A writer was born.
Nix is a writer, late-diagnosed autistic, psychotherapist, and academic based on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. She holds a BA Hons in Social Policy and Psychology, an MA in Creative Writing, and a PGDip in Jungian Psychotherapy, alongside teaching qualifications.
Currently pursuing her Doctorate in English and Therapeutic Creative Writing at the University of Wales, Trinity St David, Nix combines her academic expertise with practical experience across diverse fields, including the military, Civil Service, teaching, farming, and equestrianism.
She has lectured extensively in academia, including English at Cambridge University, and now runs a private psychotherapy practice while tutoring creative writing groups, book clubs, and teaching university students online. Her work integrates creativity, scholarship, and therapeutic practice, reflecting a commitment to both intellectual rigour and spiritual growth.

Text, to me, is beyond physical life. The beauty and resonance of words manifested on the page. The liberation they offer, the hope. The peace. The stillness. The liminal space.
Nix has published three poetry compilations, 'Noachis Terra: Poems from Planet Mars,' 'Anthems: Poetry from the Dark Side,' and, 'The Glass Poet,' which combines her love of nature, and photography, with ekphrastic poetic responses. In addition, her fourth poetry exploration, 'Equinox,' expands on the poetic experiments of her previous works, exploring literary freedoms, trauma narratives, and Avant-Garde responses to semantic restrictions (2027).
Nix has also published two children's books, 'The Island Adventures of Mr. Fudge,' and, 'The Lass and the Leveret.' She is currently writing 'The House of Nine Corvids,' (2027 publication) towards her PhD—a Jacobean/Victorian neo-gothic adult novel based on elements of her traumatic childhood.
